Light vs. Heavy Release Film – Understanding the Difference
OCA Release Film comes in two essential types: light release and heavy release. Light release film (10–20g/in) is typically 50μm thick, used as the top liner for easy peeling during initial lamination. Heavy release film (40–60g/in), 75–100μm thick, serves as the stable base layer during coating and die-cutting. This 1:3 release force ratio ensures smooth, sequential peeling without OCA deformation. Light film prioritizes easy handling and clean removal, while heavy film emphasizes rigidity and stability. Both require identical optical clarity and cleanliness but differ in coating formulation. Selecting the correct combination is vital for preventing OCA wrinkling, air bubbles, or adhesive transfer issues.
