Introduction to OCA Release Film: The Unsung Hero of Display Manufacturing
OCA Release Film is a critical component in the production of Optically Clear Adhesive (OCA) tapes, which are essential for bonding display layers in modern electronics. This specialized film, typically made from optical-grade PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate), serves as a protective liner for the OCA adhesive during manufacturing, storage, and transportation. Its primary function is to provide a smooth, non-stick surface that allows the OCA to be easily peeled off and applied to display components like touch screens, LCDs, and OLED panels without leaving residue or causing damage.

The film is available in two main types: light release film and heavy release film, differentiated by their peel strength. Light release films (6-10g/in) are used as the top liner for easy initial peeling, while heavy release films (25-35g/in) form the base liner for stable handling. Key performance metrics include high light transmittance (≥88%), low haze (≤0.15%), excellent dimensional stability (shrinkage rate MD ≤1.5%, TD ≤0.3%), and minimal silicon transfer (residual adhesion rate ≥90%). These properties ensure that the OCA maintains its optical clarity and adhesive performance throughout the lamination process, making OCA Release Film indispensable in achieving high-quality, bubble-free display assemblies.
