Advancements in Optical Release Film Technology for Next-Generation Displays
The rapid evolution of display technologies—including Mini/Micro LED, foldable OLED, and AR/VR displays—is driving significant advancements in optical release film technology. One key trend is the development of ultra-thin optical release film (down to 12μm), which enables the production of thinner, more flexible displays while maintaining structural integrity and optical performance. These ultra-thin films also reduce material usage and improve process efficiency.
Another major advancement is the integration of anti-static properties into optical release film. As display components become increasingly miniaturized, static electricity poses a greater risk of damaging sensitive microelectronics. Anti-static optical release film—incorporating conductive layers or static-dissipative coatings—prevents electrostatic discharge (ESD) without compromising optical clarity or release performance.

Nanotechnology is also playing a role in enhancing surface quality, with nanocoatings enabling ultra-low surface roughness (Ra 02μm) and improved scratch resistance. Additionally, solvent-free coating processes are becoming more prevalent, reducing environmental impact while improving coating uniformity and reducing defects. For foldable displays, optical release film with enhanced flexibility and fatigue resistance is being developed to withstand repeated bending without cracking or losing release properties. These technological advancements are critical for enabling the next generation of high-performance, compact optical devices.
